A massive ice-comet has hit the Pacific Ocean creating a GIANT TIDAL WAVE which wipes out our ENTIRE civilization… except for a small patch at the Hilltop area of the UConn campus.

The only survivors are members of USG’s Academic Affairs Committee, who were on a boating excursion through the Storrs Valley, as well as an elite group of UConn professors who were conducting rituals for their Secret Society at Hilltop.

The committee fits safely on their boat, with one seat left. They decide to have a debate to see which academic discipline would be the best addition to the committee in their attempt to rebuild civilization…”

Each professor will have five minutes to argue that their discipline is the one essential area of study that the new civilization will need to flourish. Each professor’s argument will be followed by questions from the audience, Academic Affairs Committee and fellow professors. Once each academic discipline has delivered their argument and fielded questions, a vote will be held by a panel of judges to determine the SOLE SURVIVOR!

Happy Fall everyone! As the leaves are falling and the weather gets colder, there should be one thing on everyone’s mind- the November Elections!! External Affairs Committee, partnered with the UConn Votes Coalition, will be hard at work registering students to vote during their blitz week this week! THis will be a monumental effort to get students registered here in Storrs or in their hometowns.

Several Events are planned this week following the Exercise Your Right to Vote theme, like the Fun Run Wednesday and Friday- come dressed in your 80′s spandex and sweatsuits and join the run around campus in an effort to increase awareness of Voter Registration! Meet at 11:30 in Fairfield Way to join the party!

There will also be volunteers coming around to dorms and tabling outside the dinner rush in the dining halls with voter registration forms. If you haven’t already, fill one out and it will be handed in for you!

Exercise your right to vote this November!
