First Installment of “The Powers That Be”!

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

Hey UConn! Be sure to tune into WHUS, 91.7fm tonight at 6pm to listen to The Powers That Be, a new radio show hosted by Vice President Lindsay Chiappa and myself. Going along with our effort to increase transparency in USG, we will be hosting this weekly show in order to keep the public up to date on what USG is up to. And you don’t need to have a radio to listen in – you can listen live at www.whus.org.

If you miss it, don’t worry – a recording will be available online shortly after the show!

President Herbst’s Inauguration

Monday, September 19th, 2011

Hey there UConn!

In case you weren’t able to make it, last Friday was the official inauguration of President Herbst. Held at the Jorgensen, it was a really awesome event that included student organization leaders walking in the procession, a performance of the Star Spangled Banner by student Lisa Conlon, and a closing performance by the Conn-Men. I was also given the amazing opportunity to speak on behalf of students, following up remarks by Governor Mallow and former Senator Chris Dodd.

Click here for the video of the entire event. If you just want to check out the sections including students, Lisa Conlon’s performance begins at 00:35, my speech begins at about 23:45, and the Conn-Men perform at 1:07:10.

I am really looking forward to working with President Herbst this year, and for the great changes she is going to bring to campus. If you would like to meet her, she is holding open office hours, and this week’s time is Wednesday (9/21) from 10am to 1pm.

Feel free to come by to give me your input on what USG is doing, tell me new ideas you have for how to improve UConn, or just to talk.
